Reader Favorites: Top 10 Cakes

Desserts may spell “stressed” backwards, but you’re hard-pressed to find anyone who feels stressed after digging into a huge ol’ slice of Candy Bar Cake! Dessert items are always the most popular recipes on MrFood.com, and since we on the Mr. Food Team have quite the sweet tooth ourselves, you’ll always see new and creative desserts that are also quick and easy to make!

Easter Bunny Cake RE Reader Favorites: Top 10 Cakes

I loved to bake with my mom when I was a little girl. One of our yearly rituals was baking an Easter Lamb Cake, using the same tin molds my mom used to bake Lamb Cake with her mom. Now I love vintage hand-me-downs, but there was something about these pans that made it almost impossible to bake fully-formed lamb ears. Even when the batter spread evenly in the molds, the ears were very sensitive and almost always fell off.

Since our Easter Lamb Cake was usually ear-less, we made up for it by adding plenty of vanilla frosting, shredded coconut, and jelly beans. It didn’t turn quite as pretty as this Easter Bunny Cake, but it sure tasted great. What I remember about our Lamb Cake is how simple it was: vanilla cake mix, vanilla frosting, and colorful candy. You don’t need much more to make an amazingly delicious cake!

Take the Candy Bar Cake, the most popular cake recipe on MrFood.com – you’d never guess that this cake started with yellow cake mix! Sure, it’s dressed up with a layer of caramel topping and topped with peanut butter frosting, but they’re all basic ingredients you probably have in your pantry. The chocolate-coated caramel-peanut nougat bars chopped and sprinkled on top seal the deal…no wonder so many readers have fallen in love with the Candy Bar Cake!
