10 Easy & Festive Holiday Menus

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

Sarah Schiear1 signature 10 Easy & Festive Holiday MenusHoliday Sausage Roll Ups RE 10 Easy & Festive Holiday MenusIt’s almost Christmas, and we’re betting some of you could use a few last-minute recipes and ideas. We recently started a new feature on MrFood.com: Complete Menus! They were a huge hit when we debuted them in our newsletter last week, just in time for the holidays.

The most popular menu was without a doubt out World’s Easiest Christmas Menu. I can imagine why! The holidays are a crazy time of year, and we’re all looking for shortcuts. My guess is, you’ve got a favorite recipe (or a few) that you’re “famous” for…one that your friends and family look forward to every year. As a matter of fact, we recently asked you to submit these on Facebook, and we got some great answers! We loved hearing about your traditions, from cranberry salad and our own Holiday Sausage Rollups (pictured to the right) to a ham so good but also so easy that you can’t share the recipe for fear someone may discover you don’t spend all day making it!

Easy No-Bake Holiday Desserts

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Howard Rosenthal signature Easy No Bake Holiday DessertsItalian Christmas Cream RE Easy No Bake Holiday DessertsThe holiday countdown is in full swing. We all have so much on our plates we don’t know where to start first. Yes, we tried this year to get a jump start on everything like we have done in the past but no matter how hard we try…we always wait to the last minute.

Well, let me share a piece of advice so you’re not running to your local grocery store on Christmas Eve to make a dessert because you just ran out of time. Oh, by the way, you’re not alone – and that is why this year the entire Test Kitchen really worked hard to create a bunch of new no-bake dessert recipes. These are desserts that either go together in no-time or can be made in advance and frozen until you’re ready to serve ‘em up.

Potato Pancakes & More Recipes for Holiday Visitors

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Helayne Rosenblum signature Potato Pancakes & More Recipes for Holiday VisitorsOld Fashioned Potato Pancakes RE Potato Pancakes & More Recipes for Holiday VisitorsThis time of year generally brings an end to empty nest syndrome for a lot of us. Those who have flown the nest and headed to college or have married and settled in new locales converge upon “home” for the holidays.

And who doesn’t love having the kids back home? Gathering everyone together for Chanukah, Christmas, or the New Year and cooking their favorite foods is what every empty nester loves most. Well, I certainly do, and I look forward to welcoming my daughter and son-in-law and baby grandson in from out of town, immensely. It’s the time I can dust off my food processor and rolling pin, get out the good china and glassware, set the dining room table and show off my best recipes. Some of my own, some that have been passed down from generation to generation in my family, and the new ones have been gathered over the years since I’ve been here at Mr. Food.
