Flag Cake 06 13 08 RE Let July 4th be YOUR Independence Day

Create fireworks on July 4th when you serve this easy Flag Cake for dessert

Yay! We get a long weekend this week, in honor of our country’s birthday!

Not too many people refer to July 4th as Independence Day anymore, but that’s what we’re celebrating this weekend: winning our country’s independence from Britain.

And, speaking of independence, if you want to celebrate your own independence…from kitchen duty, that is, I’ve got some great July 4th recipes that are sure to make you and your family happy during this long (and, I hope, restful) weekend:

To start…

Cranberry Peach Cooler (NOT for the kids, unless you substitute cranberry juice for the rum)

On the side…

Firecracker Slaw

For your main course options:

Key West Grilled Chicken

Stuffed Cheddar Burgers

Then, the part of the meal sure to inspire fireworks…

Flag Cake

Grilled Banana Split

Of course, there are lots more easy recipes where those came from! Here’s to a fun, safe weekend for you and everybody!
