Then again, every day is a fun day working here. What’s not to love? I’m surrounded by great people and great food all day. More importantly, I am surrounded by great people who love great food. It’s nice to be around people who like the same things as you do, isn’t it?

I think so. And food is an extra-special love to have in common with someone, because food is best when shared.

Are you wondering what’s so special about Fridays here at Mr. Food?

Well, every Friday, Art brings a loaf of fresh bread for each of us in the office. Usually, it’s a sweet, yummy Challah from a nearby bakery – which we’re all more than satisfied with! For me, it usually means there’s a French toast casserole in store for my weekend. Who wouldn’t be happy about that?

But sometimes, Art will join us in the kitchen to whip up a quick snack. This last time, we made hummus, which is something we make often because it’s just so good! Not only is it delicious, but it comes together in a snap, and it’s also really good for you. It’s a triple-win in my book.

Assorted Hummus lemon garlic spinach black bean RE Making Hummus with ArtWe don’t really use a recipe when we’re making hummus, because we’ve done it so many times that we’ve sort of got it mastered. Hummus is a Middle Eastern dip or spread made from garbanzo beans (also known as chickpeas), garlic, olive oil, lemon, and a little salt, of course. Traditionally, hummus includes an ingredient called tahini, which is a sesame seed paste you can usually find at the grocery store. It’s good but not required, as most people don’t want to buy a big jar of the stuff if you’re not using it for other things.

This recipe for Lemon Garlic Hummus is similar to the one we make, and you will also find two other versions included. It’s a fun recipe to play with, as you can add ingredients and seasonings you like to make it your own. I think it’s great with pita chips and cut-up veggies.

Have you ever made or eaten hummus before? Is there another quick snack you like to whip up? I’d love to hear your own recipes and ideas!
