This year is no exception. I haven’t seen one movie up for Best Picture – not one! I’m thinking about either renting The Help or going to see The Artist at an old-fashioned theater (which I think will go just perfectly with an almost totally silent, old-fashioned film) this week so that I can at least be somewhat informed. Well, that and, I really want to see those movies!

What I love about the Academy Awards is that even if you haven’t seen all of the movies, it’s still fun to get a group together and watch all of the celebrities and the show itself.

One of the ways I like to do this is by making a few dishes inspired by the plots of the movies up for awards. It’s easy enough to look up what each movie is about, and then pick a few recipes that match the theme. That way, you also aren’t totally clueless when you’re watching!

So, I’ve gone ahead and selected a few of the nominated movies for Best Picture, and created a menu for each. Pick a dish from each, or make ‘em all if you want to celebrate your favorite movie.

We recently started a new feature on MrFood.com: Complete Menus! They were a huge hit when we debuted them in our newsletter last week, just in time for the holidays.

The most popular menu was without a doubt out World’s Easiest Christmas Menu. I can imagine why! The holidays are a crazy time of year, and we’re all looking for shortcuts. My guess is, you’ve got a favorite recipe (or a few) that you’re “famous” for…one that your friends and family look forward to every year. As a matter of fact, we recently asked you to submit these on Facebook, and we got some great answers! We loved hearing about your traditions, from cranberry salad and our own Holiday Sausage Rollups (pictured to the right) to a ham so good but also so easy that you can’t share the recipe for fear someone may discover you don’t spend all day making it!
